Drop shipping, and e-commerce

Can starting a drop shipping business, and e-commerce truly work together? More importantly will it work for you?

In the online world of trade, one of the easiest options is that of drop shipping. In simple terms, drop shipping is selling items that belong to someone else. It involves creating a wholesale account with a, manufacturer or supplier, getting product images, and descriptions, placing the item for sale on a personal website, or auction site like eBay at retail price and after your sale you would keep the remaining balance as your profit.

Opportunities Working with a Drop Shipper

Working with a drop shipper, you are offered one of the two choices – wholesaler or manufacturer.

Wholesaler is a type of supplier who works as a middleman.

They make money through storing the product and rank charges from the people who place the order through them. They then contact the manufacturers and arrange stock from them. This is a workable option but fetches you low earnings as many products offered by them can be purchased directly.

The more monetary alternative is working directly with a manufacturer. The manufacturers, also known as a drop shipping wholesalers, usually select to drop ship themselves. If you are not working with a manufacturer, then working with one can earn you considerable profit as you would have a direct line to the main source instead of going through a middleman.

Basic advantages Of  using Drop Shipping

There are quite a few advantages to drop shipping that are listed here -
As a reseller for a drop shipper, you don’t have to own any stock nor buy a product to be able to sell it.

You don’t have to invest any money or capital, unless your working with a middleman, thus all you get is an inward flow of cash, which usually is the difference between the retail, and the wholesale prices on the products.

You can earn large profits if you are advertising, and merchandising your product well in the online market.
Replication of work is usually avoided as drop shipping includes getting the stock picked, packaged and dispatched acting as one warehouse rather of three.

Although it increases your responsibleness as a online supplier, drop shipping can reduce direction and delivery costs, thereby increasing profit margins by up to double.

Drop Shipping On an auction site

Drop shipping is an exceptional option for you on eBay, or any other online auction venue if you are not making substantial profits as a seller on your own website, or if you seriously want to make extra money.

Quite a number of sellers on eBay use drop shipping to some capacity.More than half by some estimates.

If you are not a seller, you can choose to drop ship for one. Please note that drop shipping for a manufacturer is preferred over drop shipping from a middleman.

Once you choose your supplier you catalog the product on eBay without buying it first. Post the sale, the seller will take the shipping and retail charges from the consumer and will send you the wholesale and shipping fees to you. Then, you as a drop shipper will dispatch the item to the concluding consumer.

To establish your own dropshipping business, all you need to do is establish your credibility as an online supplier, and handle your responsibilities – from collection from the manufacturer to delivering the item to the customers.

Sustainable E-Commerce Business Models

Finding a sustainable e-commerce business model is the goal of every internet marketer. Due to the fact that e-commerce has gained the majority of the market share in terms of the amount of money being exchanged, there are now more ways than ever to earn a living online. That being said, there are many ways to build income very quickly. Some of these e-commerce business models are sustainable. Others are not.

One type of model that, in the long run, has sustainability that is questionable, is a model that bases income around Pay Per Click (PPC) traffic. Search engines have and continue to tighten the standards with respect to their allowance of inclusion of sites built or designed specifically with the only out-bound page links being either those to other pages on the site or PPC ads.

Some search engines openly discourage these types of sites from being built and have actually put review teams in place as a means to manually review websites so as to be judged for continued inclusion or exclusion from the search engine index.

Obviously, if a site is reviewed by a human reviewer and tagged as a made-for-PPC site, then the site is, in many cases, removed fro the index. In these cases, the site owner would notice an immediate drop in traffic and income.

An e-commerce business model that is much more sustainable would be one that is based around a variety of useful products or services that are either owned by the promoter or that they are an affiliate of. This model only requires one website and the majority of the efforts put forth by the marketer are towards website presentation, functionality and value. Additionally, time will be spent on promotion of the website and its offerings.

Key to the building of a sustainable e-commerce business model is the capturing of targeted leads.

A list of targeted leads gives an internet marketer the ability to market to a targeted audience over and over again. Additionally, it gives the website owner the ability to invite repeat traffic any time fresh content is added as well as offer them new products and services over and over again.

A sustainable business model is based around the adding of value to the internet. A website that adds value to the internet will continuously do several things. It will continuously add up-to-date and fresh content that is relevant to the products and services that it offers but that is also relevant to the state of the industry that it serves or sells to. Additionally, a sustainable business model will link out to other resources as a means to provide visitors with a variety of options that are not available on that site. These outbound links would also be managed to reflect any changes or updates to the landing pages that they point to.

Having a business model with sustainability in mind is one that is based around one website that focuses on fresh content, products and services as opposed to a model that calls for numerous made-for-PPC websites that are low in fresh content, products or services and that do not link out to other resources.
